Assistant Controller
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing critical accounting functions, including financial reporting, audit coordination, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and tax regulations. This role partners closely with department leaders to analyze and present monthly financial results, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
The Assistant Controller will also lead process improvements, system implementations, and key accounting initiatives while mentoring and developing the accounting team to drive performance and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Close
· Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
· Review and distribute financial reports with clear, concise variance commentary
· Ensure proper application of GAAP, particularly for complex transactions
Audit Management
· Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors
· Coordinate audit timelines, prepare schedules, and maintain supporting documentation
Internal Controls & Compliance
· Establish, monitor, and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
· Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
Financial Planning & Analysis
· Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts
· Analyze financial performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations
Systems & Process Improvement
· Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and workflows
· Lead or support implementation of accounting systems and automation tools
Leadership & Collaboration
· Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and support business decisions
· Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to enhance team effectiveness
Additional Responsibilities
· Support the Controller with ad hoc reporting, projects, and strategic initiatives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred
· CPA strongly preferred
· 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
· Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables; Macros a plus)
· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
· Experience with multi-currency transactions preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
